Marine Corps League Det #1231 is hosting their 3rd Annual Motorcycle Raffle and Toy Run. We are raffling off a 2009 Screaming Eagle Springer Softail valued at $27,000. Tickets will go on sale March 1st, 2009. Tickets are $100 each and only 600 will be sold. We will also give away 25 cash prizes ranging from $100 to $1000. Every 25th ticket is a winner. Buy a ticket by April 15th and your name will be entered in our early bird drawing to win one of two free tickets to be given away. Net proceeds from the raffle support veterans in need and Marine Corps League programs. Net proceeds from the toy ride make sure that less fortunate children in our community are able to have a Christmas this year. IL Motorcycle Freedom Run

We just got tired of the Anti war demonstrations being conducted in Chicago and decided to stage a Support our Troop’s demonstration of our own. Things kind of snowballed and there we were riding from Chicago Heights along Rt 1 with 5,000 motorcycles on their way to St. Anne, Illinois to deliver a monument and to build a park in their town. Every inch of the run was covered with American Patriots and young children in strollers. Some were sitting in beach chairs until we approached and they jumped up waving their American flags and cheering us on. There were homemade signs that said “Support our Troops” and “Bless you.” We had given a voice to the silent majority who still believed in their country and grieved the deaths and the wounds of our young people. This was how Real America really felt. We promised that we would never let the fallen ever be forgotten, so the following year, we placed the beginnings of the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial. This wall consisted of the names of all the fallen from 1979 to 2004 from the entire United States. This is our 8th run to the wall; and every year it seems that we find another dimension to the healing power of our wall. This wall was a gift of love and respect from the American Patriotic community who could not wait for the red tape of the government to say thank you to the many families who sacrificed it all for the freedom we hold so dear. Please join us with the Gold Star families for the rededication service to honor the fallen from this year together with honoring and remembering the fallen previously engraved on our panels.
